State Testing

Dear MOS Families,

Sate Testing begins next week. Please review the below information to address common questions.

  1. Under Federal and State guidance the school is required to administer state assessments this school year. Per guidelines state assessments must be administered face to face.
  2. Testing sites have been organized across the state. Your student has been assigned to the closest available testing site. All efforts have been made to limit the distance you are travelling, however if you live in an area that has a very small population of school students your test site may be a bit further away from your home.
  3. All test locations will be run in alignment with all CDC guidelines for social distancing and cleaning. Anyone on site must wear a face mask at all times.
  4. Test site assignments were sent out on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, via email from your Site Lead. Sites, addresses, and Site Leads were also listed in the 3/29 “Monday Messages” newsletter that went out via email and Global Announcements in Canvas. If you did not receive your site communication please contact Mr. Parker at *Students who have Special Education Services and specific testing accommodations, may have not yet received a communication as some of those dates are still being scheduled.
  5. If you have school provided equipment (computer, computer charging cord, school issued headphones) you must bring that to your testing site with you. Please have your computer fully charged. If you did not request a school issued computer one will be provided to you at the test site.
  6. For general questions regarding State Testing please contact Mr. Parker at

(MI) Many students and families have asked why the school is administering state tests during the COVID Pandemic. The US Department of Education has not waived the requirement for schools to administer assessments during the 2020-2021 school year. The state of Michigan submitted a request for waiver of this requirement to the US Department of Education, however that waiver was denied. Michigan schools are required to administer state tests this school year. While the tests are computer-based the state requires that they are administered face to face by school staff. Schools that are 100% virtual/remote must offer testing just as traditional/in-person schools do with physical locations available for students to be present for testing as desired.

Before school starts you will be receiving a username and password that will allow you to access both your computer and the online school. This will come to the email address that you used to register your student. Please continue to check email daily, including your junk and spam folders. This will be our primary method of communicating with you as we get started.
